1. Summary in plain words

Unra is a small social app where friends compare what they watch, read and listen to. We collect only what is needed to make the app work — your account info, the ratings you give, and the YouTube data you choose to connect — and we do not sell, rent, share, or trade any of it. You can delete everything at any time from inside the app.

The longer policy below covers the legal details. Unra is operated from Switzerland and follows Swiss data protection law (FADP); where it applies, the GDPR also protects you. If anything is unclear, email seb1024@hotmail.ch and we will explain.

2. Data we collect

When you use Unra, we collect:

• Account information: your email address, the username and display name you choose, your profile picture if you upload one, and your date of birth — used only to check that you meet the minimum age, never shown to anyone.
• Country: the one you choose, used only to filter rankings (for example "the favourite films of the French"), never shown to anyone.
• Sign-in provider: if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive from them your email address (or Apple's private relay address) and an identifier for your account. We never receive your password.
• Content you create in Unra: the ratings, reviews, comments, lists, and watchlist entries you add for films, TV shows, books, music, and YouTube videos, and the likes you give.
• Friend connections: the list of people you have added as friends inside Unra.
• Evening messages: the messages you write on a night planned with friends. Only the host and the guests of that night can read them. They are kept as long as the night exists, deleted with your account, and can be reported. Blocking someone hides their messages from you.
• Connected accounts: if you connect YouTube, we store the access tokens needed to read the data described in section 4.
• Device and app data: the device language, app version, and basic crash and error logs so we can fix bugs.
• Usage analytics: anonymous statistics about how the app is used, never tied to your Unra account, so we can understand what works and what doesn't. No advertising identifier is ever collected, and analytics are never shared with third parties for their own use.
• Search queries: the titles you type in the search bar are sent to the catalogue sources listed in section 5 to find the matching film, book or track. They are not tied to your account when forwarded.

3. How we use your data

We use your data for these purposes only:

• To show you your profile and your friends' profiles in the app.
• To compute taste overlaps, recommendations, and the friends-in-common features Unra is built around.
• To keep your account signed in and recover it if you forget.
• To send you notifications you have opted into.
• To fix bugs, prevent abuse, and keep the service running.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with third parties for any purpose.

4. YouTube integration

Connecting your YouTube account is optional. If you connect it, Unra uses the YouTube API Services to read only:

• Your list of liked videos.
• The public metadata of those videos and their channels (title, thumbnail, view count, channel name) so we can display them in your profile.

Unra does not read your watch history, your subscriptions, your private playlists, your comments, your uploaded videos, or anything else from your YouTube account.

Unra does not write, post, like, subscribe, modify, or delete anything in your YouTube account. The scope we request from Google is read-only.

Unra's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

By using Unra's YouTube features, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy describes how Google handles the data you share with it. You can revoke Unra's access to your Google account at any time from the Google security settings page, or by disconnecting YouTube from inside the Unra app: Unra then asks Google itself to revoke its access.

Your list of liked videos is kept only while your YouTube account is connected, and is refreshed continuously against YouTube. When you disconnect YouTube, or delete your Unra account, the stored list and the tokens are deleted immediately, and in any event within 7 calendar days. Public metadata cached from the YouTube API (view counts, channel details) is refreshed or deleted within 30 days.

5. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your data. We use a small number of service providers strictly to operate the app:

• Supabase — hosts our database, file storage and authentication, located in the European Union.
• Apple and Google (sign-in) — only if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google.
• Google (YouTube Data API) — only if you choose to connect YouTube.
• Catalogue sources — TMDB (The Movie Database) for films and TV shows; Open Library and the Bibliothèque nationale de France for books; Apple Music and MusicBrainz for music. They receive your search queries and return public metadata (cover art, cast, descriptions, preview clips). They never receive your identity or your ratings.
• Sentry — collects crash and error reports, hosted in the European Union.
• PostHog — collects the usage analytics described in section 2, hosted in the European Union.
• Microsoft Translator — receives only the text of a review or comment when you tap "See translation". It never receives your identity.
• Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — the Apple and Android notification services, used to deliver notifications to your device, only if you opt in.
• Expo — used to deliver app updates on iOS and Android.

These providers receive only the minimum data needed to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy commitments. We do not share your data with anyone else.

6. Data retention

Your account data, ratings, reviews, and connected-account tokens are kept for as long as your Unra account exists. When you delete your account, this data is removed from our database within 30 days, except where we are required by law to keep it longer (for example, basic records to defend against a legal claim, which are kept only as long as legally necessary).

Crash and error logs may be retained for up to 90 days for debugging.

7. Your rights and controls

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority — in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). To exercise any of these rights, email seb1024@hotmail.ch from the email address linked to your account.

Inside the app you can also, at any time: edit your profile, switch between a public and a private profile, delete any rating, review, list or comment you posted, remove a friend, disconnect YouTube, and turn notifications off.

To get a copy of your data, open your profile → settings → Account → Download my data. You receive a readable file (JSON) with your ratings, watchlists, lists, reviews, comments, friends, blocked accounts and settings, for films, series, books, music and YouTube. It never contains passwords or connection tokens.

8. Account and data deletion

You can delete your Unra account at any time:

• In the app: open your profile → settings → Erase account.
• By email: if you no longer have access to the app, email seb1024@hotmail.ch from the email address linked to your account and we will delete it within 30 days.

Deletion removes your account, your ratings, your reviews, your lists, your comments, your friend connections, your profile photo in every size, and any YouTube tokens we hold for you. It also revokes Unra's access to your Google account; you can check this on Google permissions. When you change your profile photo, the previous one is deleted, in every size, within one day.

9. Children

Unra is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an Unra account, please email us and we will remove it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS), encrypted storage at our database provider, and row-level access controls so that only you and the friends you allow can see your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we do our best and respond quickly to any issue.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you inside the app or by email before the change takes effect.
